A yahrzeit calendar for your family

A yahrzeit calendar shows each yahrzeit your family keeps on the right regular date for the year. Family Luach puts them on a printed Hebrew and English wall calendar, with a small candle icon on the day, next to Shabbat times and holidays for your city.

Three ways to keep yahrzeits on one page

  1. Find each date. Use the free yahrzeit calculator for the Hebrew date and the next ten years of dates.
  2. Write them on a calendar. Copy each date into a Jewish calendar by hand. You will need to do it again every year because the dates move.
  3. Make a family luach. Enter the date of passing once (regular or Hebrew date), and Family Luach places the yahrzeit on the right day for any 12 months you choose.

What to have ready

How the calendar handles hard dates

Some Hebrew dates do not exist every year. 30 Cheshvan and 30 Kislev disappear in some years, and 30 Adar I only exists in leap years. Family Luach follows Hebcal's yahrzeit rules for these and shows a note on each one so you can check it with your rabbi.

Times are for planning. Check with your rabbi.

Questions and answers

What is a yahrzeit calendar?

A yahrzeit calendar lists the yahrzeits a family keeps, on the regular dates they fall each year, so nobody misses lighting a candle or saying Kaddish.

Why does the yahrzeit date change every year?

A yahrzeit is kept on the Hebrew date of passing. The Hebrew calendar is lunar with leap months, so the matching regular date moves by up to a few weeks from year to year.

Can I print a yahrzeit calendar?

Yes. A Family Luach calendar prints every yahrzeit you add, together with birthdays, anniversaries, Shabbat times and holidays. Ordering printed copies is coming soon. You can design one and download a PDF preview now.

Can I get a yahrzeit reminder?

Family Luach makes a wall calendar, so the yahrzeit is in front of you all year. It does not send email reminders.
