A personalized Jewish calendar as a gift
A personalized Jewish calendar is a gift a family uses every day. Each month has a family photo, and every birthday, anniversary and yahrzeit appears on the right Hebrew date, next to Shabbat times and holidays for their city.
Occasions it fits
- Rosh Hashanah, as a gift for the new year
- Chanukah
- A grandparent's birthday or a milestone anniversary
- A new baby, with the baby's Hebrew birthday already on it
- A bar or bat mitzvah year, with the date marked
How to collect the family's Hebrew dates
- Make a list of everyone: children, grandchildren, siblings, and the people your family remembers.
- For each person, note the regular date and whether it was after sunset, or the Hebrew date if the family already knows it.
- Ask about Adar: for yahrzeits from Adar of a regular year, does the family keep them in Adar I (Ashkenazic custom, our default) or Adar II (Sephardic custom) in a leap year?
- Check each Hebrew birthday with the Hebrew birthday calculator.
- Pick 12 favorite photos, one for each month. Larger photos (at least 1600 by 1200 pixels) print best.
You can paste the whole list at once or upload a spreadsheet using our CSV template.
Questions and answers
Is a family luach a good gift for grandparents?
It is a gift they use every day: the grandchildren's photos on every month and every Hebrew birthday, anniversary and yahrzeit in the family on the right day.
When should I start?
Collecting dates and photos takes longest. A calendar can start in any month from September 2026 to December 2027, so it works for Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah or a January start.
Can I order a printed copy?
